Never seen this species flower any other time in this state. Not rare in cultivation, and very easy species to grow in southern California. Handles full, hot blazing sun quite well, though plants grown in shade seem to do equally well. Eventually makes a low-growing mass of plants.
Not one of the hardier species- cold of 27F in my yard all but melted this plant to mush, while most other species, though damaged, at least weren't melted.
