I have grown this plant that grows naturally along the subtropical east coast of South Africa including Durban for the last 40 years. Ten years ago I took 5 bulbs with me to Germany which I grew very successfully on my windowsill. Every year of the 5 years I lived there I pollinated the flowers and every year I had a whole batch of new seedlings that soon filled the green house. Since my return to South Africa I have been researching this plant for it´s suitability to be grown on green roofs with great success. Can you imaging large numbers of these plants in full flower!!
