I have recently acquired a few of these and will update more on their cultivation as I learn it. One difference between this and B volub...Read Moreilis is this one has more rubbery, somewhat thicker greenery and the 'branches' are much shorter and blunted (only seem to grow about 1"-2" off the center vine), without the twisty vine-like endings of B volubilis. Another difference are the flowers which are nearly 3-4x the size of the dinky little volubilis flowers, and pure white (as opposed to greenish-white)… and seems to bloom in the fall, while B volubilis blooms in spring to early summer. Bulb is more flattened and has a brownish- papery covering, rather than the onion-skin like shell B volubilis gets if allowed to dehydrate and quiet down.
I got mine as mail order plants and the bulb was somewhat soft, which I takes as a sign of dehydration, nothing more (I hope...)- at least this is how Bowiea volubilis becomes when it's not watered for some time. Sure enough, firmed right up as expected.
