When te...Read Moremperatures hit 116F a young reitzii that had been fattening and growing well, with morning to noon sun showed burning of the leaves and them it rotted and died. It had good drainage and did well with light drip irrigation until the temperature topped 110 for a month, at which point it expired. I suspect like many aloes, it prefers a cooler climate than is offered by Phoenix. Another one in filtered shade under large pine tree is a survivor, grows very slowly, and gets light drip irrigation similar to the one that died, making me think sun and extreme heat will kill this plant.
