Just counted to make sure I had it right, but there are actually 21 stalks that look capable of producing flowers as of 17 May ... less than a year after planting!
They are in an area that is mainly foundation plantings, so the vivid coloration really does jump out at you.
Kudos to B&B for such magnificent, healthy bulbs.
Grown on in a pot because of problematical soil conditions at my Zone 5 home, this has performed well. The three bulbs did bloom in 2011...Read More, three months after I got them. Growth in 2012 was more impressive. Less than three feet tall, they none the less gave 8-10 buds. There were very few offsets and the bulbs did not double-nose. Hot weather at the end of May rather scorched the early flower show. There was no noticeable scent.
