I have had the silver version fail in the sunnier back yard, I don't know why. I have one pot of golden started in front under oak, slowly spreading (unwatered). I have two pieces in a scantly watered self watering pot that's maybe faster, but far from full.

Plant specialist from Lowe's thought I overwatered the silver version out back, said to get moist then let dry. While that conflicts with what I had heard or read, in my extreme draining soil and what I'd seen myself on a neighbor's lawn it seemed to certainly be possible.

So far it's a lot of maybes but I do know that I like it to fill-in stuff and keep a lawn green without a million chemicals.

It's taller in shade, tight in part sun. It's very cute. Looks good spilling over a shady container and as a ground cover and if you wate...Read Morer it it will spread quickly. I think it's got stolons like a strawberry that set down roots. I could see why it's a sort of weed, but a great weed.
