Foliage is the blue-green of plants that have "bloom"; the 3-inch tall flower is gorgeous, just like the photo, light purple standards, purple-and-white falls. The rhizome looked like those from my very old Louisianas, black-and-yellow striped, so I assumed 'Dardanus' also would prefer shelter from the July-August hot-dry weather. Will move it, or some of the Monkshood, this fall, and report back in Spring, 2007.

Must be grown very dry with sharp drainage. Waited 8 years for this to bloom - and it was worth it!
