I visited again in September 2016 and saw the plants with the dull, bluish-green foliage of leaves about 2" long, that sort of reminds me a Carolina or PJM Rhododendron and the Highbush Blueberry that were often growing right with them. Fascinating native plant!

This plant grows all over the place up here. As described, it does like wet, boggy sites and a lot of sun.
