It surpassed anythi...Read Moreng that I expected and the proof was in the pudding because it was the first plant my hummers went to. It even got more action than my Salvia guaranitica Black & Blue in the same bed from its first bloom in late spring. It provided copious amounts of seed which I have been able to pass along to other hummgardeners. It still hasn't been determined if it will be hardy for me or not but it has already gone through one frost that took out 99% of my Salvia coccineas and is still blooming profusely. I will know next spring but softwood cuttings do root very easily and quickly.
Update: April 2009: It did survive a bitter cold winter but hasn't leafed out yet. It should start to bud out any day now. We are still having incosistant warm to cold temps.
