Unlikely to do well in the Southeast United States due to high humidity, it demands good drainage and full sun; and like most Cypresses, it is extremely drought tolerant but will grow faster with regular watering. Bark is a bright, smooth and peeling orange/red. This plant is a very pleasant alternative to the much-overplanted Arizona Cypress. Baker Cypress is threatened in the wild and ought to be propagated more as a form of conservation.
