It might not look much like a...Read Moren orchid to most people, but the greenhoods (Pterostylis) is a large genus of Australian orchids and the Friar's Cowl flower is remarkably similar to some greenhood flowers. I have added one of the greenhoods (known as Maroonhood), Pterostylis pedunculata, to the Database to demonstrate the similarity in their flowers. Pterostylis curta (blunt greenhood) in the Database also has a similar shaped flower, although without the maroon colouring.
