Flowers from late June into mid-July; near-white witha pale lavendar mid-petal stripe. Open funnel shape, scapes 22-35" tall; many long seed pods develop.

While many of us think of "Elegans" as the consumate H. sieboldiana, I've found by reading about the actual species that, although popular in the U.S. and elsewhere, 'Elegans' was developed in Germany over 90 years ago, and is not a true representative of the species. In "true" species leaves lack corrugation, the blade is narrower and the underside bloom thinner. (M. Zilis The Hosta Handbook).
