As other reviewers h...Read Moreave noted - unpredictable habit and a bit floppy. Not that that is at all unusual for a DA rose.
I think it would work best with the canes pegged down (as DA recommends for a number of roses), but I don't have the space to do that - I've had it on a frame and, currently, it's free standing in a bed, it's new and yet to get big enough to need support.
I'm happy to wrangle it for the flowers - they are worth the effort! YMMV.

It's very winter-hardy in zone 5 and comes back with very little die-back. The only drawback is that it tends to have an erratic habit, with some of the canes getting really long and floppy.

This is my favorite David Austin. It is very fragrant, disease resistant and blooms all summer.
