Strong growing to 4' to 6' tall. Large pointed lustrous dark green leaves. Flowers are phlox pink sterile with blue fertile in alkaline; lilac to pure blue in acid soils. Sepals generally not overlapping, strongly serrate but entire. Mid to late season, producing flowers for a long time.
