I saved mine from the trash heap. My son purchased a home and dug it up, said " something must be wrong with it, it doesn't bloom right" ...Read More. It was huge so I took an ax to it, cut it into 10 pieces and 9 survived the brutal assault.
This is the first spring after the division and I have blooms. Planted some in full sun, some in partial shade and some in deep shade. Looks like here in the Deep South some shade is best.

A large shrub from 4' to 6' tall with sturdy branches. Dark green course leaves and stout stems. Flowers July to frost with large blooms, which have a double row of sterile florets. The main color is bright red sterile flowers with crimson fertile, but can be dark lavendar with purple overtones on acid soil. Fasan means "pheasant."
