Coleus, Flame Nettle, Painted Nettle 'Dipt in Wine'

This and coleus 'Henna' were the first two coleus I've owned. I bought them from Home Depot in 2013. A vacation and curious cat killed 'H...Read Moreenna' but I still have 'Dipt in Wine' with me today [September 2017].

In Iowa they it is not winter hardy so I take cuttings and root them in little pots in the window where they do well over the colder months. They lose a bit of color in less light but Dipt in Wine's deep burgundy leaves and chipper chartreuse center is a nice look in all seasons and positively glows once it's planted back outside again come spring.

This cultivar has since inspired me to collect more varieties of this colorful, versatile plant.

This is the most sun tolerant coleus I have. It doesn't even wilt in the afternoon here on 90+ degree days in full sun! Easy to propogate...Read More cuttings, and absolutely beautiful. Who could ask for more! (Well, me. I found large plants at WalMart for $2.88)

Dipt in Wine is aptly named with the dark red leaves that almost glow.
