A small flowering bulb native to the Caucasus but naturalised across central and northern Europe.

Has mid-light green, lan...Read Morece like leaves which smell of onion when crushed or on hot days. Bears one sided umbels of 1-4 white nodding, bell shaped, white flowers.

Flowers March-May but can be found flowering much earlier in late winter.

Likes moist, well drained, humus rich soils in sun but preferably cool partial shade where it will spread if happy. Unlike many of its reletives it is slow to spread and not invasive.

Not very hardy only standing temperatures down to -5 to -10C. Dormant in Summer to Winter.

This plant MAY BE POISONOUS if eaten in large quantities by most mammals, especially dogs.
