It is a forest floor dweller. It likes fertile soil-- compost and some perlite for drainage, otherwise soil can be kept slightly moist. Gingers like these are heavy feeders during growing season. Plant prefers sun to partial shade and or filtered afternoon sun for the entire day.
Goes dormant during the winter time and sprouts annually with flowers being the first to come up.
The plant will spread through rhizomes. I got mine from South Africa directly. This is a good plant for those into rare, medicinal and endangered plants.
