I got this Grand Dame Rose as a bonus during one of my online purchases. OMG, what a revelation now that it has flowered! I had just planted the free gift this spring.
It is beautiful and ... AMAZINGLY FRAGRANT! It's amazing how sometimes gardeners get so much pleasure and overall return from accidental ownership of plants. There are times we pay a premium for plants that never worked out, sometimes getting little from all the nurturing we do and high expectations. And then there are times when we get wonderful surprises like this Grand Dame Rose I got merely as a bonus plant. It is doing much better than the plants I chose to pay for.
I cannot wait to have a bigger shrub of it in the coming years. And these are NOT weak-stemmed or nodding at all. I'm so pleased now having this in my lush garden!
