Chinese Peony, Garden Peony 'Philippe Rivoire'

Very nice plant. Stems are red and the bush is very sturdy. My bushes are over 85 years old and a few retain the double flowers with the ...Read Morelateral buds but several have reverted to a single anemone-type flower with a huge pouff of golden stamens in the center and don't produce laterals. It would be interesting to know the parentage of this peony to see if it's reverting back to a parent plant.

PHILIPPE RIVOIRE (Riviere, 1911) - Double - Red - Early. (Wild catalog says Late Mid.) Medium height. Richly rose scented. Small. Very dark crimson with a blackish sheen, fully double with a symmetrically incurved center; floriferous, wiry stems. Good foliage.
