It tends to weaken in the colder months and gets strange dark pink, almost red "veins" on certain parts of the plant when exposed to frost. It manages our summer in Phoenix fine but it is in partial shade under a mesquite. I have found this plant to be very drought tolerant and it rarely shows the need to water before the other succulents in the same area do.
