I had this located in a place in my yard where full sun exposure would even discolor it bronze during the growing season with ample moisture. Growth seemed lathargic in full sun as well with smaller leaves. I moved the plant to a half sun location and the growth is normal now and the leaves back to the large size. In zone 5 you definitely want to keep this plant out of mid-late day winter sun. The plant performs well otherwise in zone 5 winters, growing moderately in the growing season.
