'Border' varieties will usually survive outside all ...Read Moreyear round here in the English midlands but the more classy ones such as 'Sirius' (one of my favourites) need protection from winter wet and do not like excessively strong sunshine for long periods. Summer is probably the most difficult time for them. They are best grown in pots in a mixture of loam based compost, peat or leaf mould and grit for good drainage. If you are interested try getting hold of some literature on the subject.
