Needs support for the leaf tendrils to cling to. Planting medium should be freely draining, tolerant of nutritionally poor soils. Easy container plant (sand added for drainage). Water plentifully when in full growth. Feed every couple of weeks with dilute liquid. Withhold water as growth ripens and dies back in late summer.
Mine are grown in pots that are overwintered in basement dry. Repot every year or two in late winter, early spring. Pots moved outside when night temps stay warm (say 60ºF).
