I have every type of rose in yellow except a Rugosa. I'm writing this because I'm in love with Yellow Submarine! It may just be my favorite yellow rose. Its a shrub rose but the blooms are on individual stems like a hybrid tea. You can Google this rose but every website fails to mention how amazing its mild to strong fragrance is...something thats missing in many hardy roses. It grows well in my hot & humid zone 7b Southeast garden in Alabama. I ordered just one & when it arrived & I opened the box inside, the fragrance filled my home & my wife came out of the bedroom to see what the smell was. The bush arrived with many blooms & looked great despite having been in the mail for 9 days in 100 degree temps. It grows about 5ft tall here if left alone but I keep it cut back very low in early spring. After watering the 1st year one could get away with doing nothing to it. Its got great disease resistance. I'm not sure why anyone would even buy a yellow knockout if they were aware of Yellow Submarine. The petals maintain the color longer than my others before fading to white as well as it holds its flowers the longest too. The flowers are double petaled. I was afraid I couldn't buy it locally so I ordered 3 more & haven't found it local. It's on Amazon in a 3 gallon pot for $25.00 6/2022. The price is amazing. I almost hate sharing that as I plan on buying more for a hedge. In my experience yellows generally don't do as well in my hot & humid area but Yellow Submarine checks ALL the boxes including fragrance. You may have a leaf or two of black spot if left untreated & Japanese Beetles like it as they do all roses but I'm very very happy with this rose. It also is extra cold hardy down to zone 4 or maybe 3 per instructions but I only have experience with growing it down to zero degrees F. Since it blooms like a hybrid tea you can easily place in a vase. Blooms are about 3.5 inches across when fully opened. I only have pics when I unboxed but will add more soon. Deep gold bud opens lemon yellow before slowly fading to light yellow not completely white as with many yellow roses. Foilage green & healthy. Vase like bush. Moderate thorns. 5 stars plus! Forgive my typos please! :-) BTW, I've never seen it advertised as a climber..only a shrub so not sure why climber is in the title here on Dave's Garden
