Justicia, Brazilian Plume, Flamingo Flower, Jacobinia, Pine-Bur Begonia 'Thelma's Pink'

There are two plants which may be sold in Houston under this name. The 'Thelma's Pink' which I've seen and grown has a deeper pink bloo...Read Morem and leaves with undersides that are purple which makes the plant really stunning in the landscape. My original plant came from Mercer Arboretum. The other Justicia has paler pink blooms with leaves which lack the coloration of 'Thelma's Pink.' However, it's more vigorous and spreads/roots more easily than Thelma. But, I've sometimes seen this one sold as 'Thelma's Pink.'

This is a lovely tropical plant which grows like a bush. We had ours grow in a pot on our patio during the summer and waiting for the hum...Read Moremingbirds to migrate through and enjoy the nectar. I plan on taking cuttings and overwintering the plant this fall.
