The flowers form long seeds pods that peel back when they dry out. I have been trying to get it to grow, have had some success, but seemed to die off in the summer. Grows in the lawns and will not appear now til wintertime.

The leaves were irregularly toothed and hairy with the texture of sand paper. It is a common spring wild flower in the Mojave. I think it is a real beauty!
