Phyllostachys Aureosulcata "alata", is very similar to the common form, except it apperantly gets wider culms, and a more distinguished "...Read Morezig zag" on its culms.
I recieved mine in early May, and was damaged during shipping ( im assuming cold), had almost no leaves, but the culms were healthy. I planted it, a few days after recieving it. And it did nothing for a month. In late June, it put out 13+ culms. They werent bigger then the original culms, im assuming it did this because of the previous damage.
The damaged culms leafed out, and grew well all summer long, and even stayed green with temps around -17c at night.
Right now it is Under about 3 foot of leaves, and under a tarp for its first winter. Im sure to see great success with this in the spring, when i uncover it.
