Despite what many people initially t...Read Morehought about Daruma's stature it is now clear that it will grow just as large as most other Loropetalums. Mine are now at least six feet tall. The good news is it blooms like crazy and can be quite a sight to behold. The bad news is you have to fertilize it consistently or the foliage will not hold its purple hue.
Overall it's not so bad or I would have ripped it out of my landscape a long time ago.
Edited 12/30/17 - My Daruma has now grown to over 10' tall. Despite what everyone on the internet still claims this is not a dwarf plant.
Edited 8/29/23 - My lovely treeform Daruma is now 12' tall.

It prefers moist, acidic well-drained soil. If the soil is alkaline, the leaves do not attain its deep plum color for which it is known and grown.
