Cultivation: The tall perennial phloxes are easily grown in any temperate climate, though they need a lot of water while they are growing. The annual species will grow in almost any climate from the tropics to the coldest regions. Grow in fertile soil that drains well but remains moist, in a sunny or part-shaded position. Propagate form seed or cuttings or by division. Watch out for red spider mite, eelworm and powdery mildew.
