I got this Mini Flora from Almost Heaven Roses a few months ago... and am I EVER lovin' it! The reaso...Read Moren I got it is because it looks quite a bit like a hybrid tea I have been chomping at the bit to get called Hocus Pocus b.k.a. Abracadabra. Since the Hocus Pocus is literally IMPOSSIBLE to get (the reason being is the sport is really unstable; it was pulled by the breeder) so I did a little research and found this one.
The bush itself is just a little smaller than a hybrid tea... and the buds are just a little larger than a mini. Fully opened, it is about 3/4ths of an inch across. They do have a slight delightful fragrance that is more noticable the more they open.
It's a very unusual flower and holds it's own even amongst all of my hybrid teas. I am liking the mini floras so much, I bought two more bushes that are bred by the same folks!
I would like to add that my area is BRUTAL on roses... LOTS of rain, excessive heat, pests galore year round. This bush has been hanging like a champ! It also helps that I use disease control, Avid (to keep the spider mites at bay), and Spectracide Immunox Plus. If I didn't I would be in some serious trouble. It has rained pretty much every day for the last few weeks and it seems to be liking it because I see new growth ALL over it. The leaves are a little lighter green than some of my others... similar to a Joseph's Coat climber. I also have it in partial shade as I was afraid it would not be able to handle the full sun seeings how I just popped it out of a box not too long ago. It seems to be liking basking under a palm tree ... so I may just leave it there. Wish I was basking under a palm tree right now!!
Absolutely STUNNING!
