This variety and var, zeyheri look quite similar at first glance but this plant has completely smooth (glabrous) leaves whereas Adromischus cristatus var. zeyheri has felted leaves covered with fine glandular hairs.
This particular clonotype was collected by D.M. Cumming 336 from the Fair Acres Estate, N. Oribi Gorge, Natal, It has also been distributed as ISI 96 -18
It is being distributed in Adelaide (and also possibly elsewhere in Australia) as cv. 'Crinkle Leaf' but "Crinkle Leaf" is the common English name in South Africa for the whole A. cristatus species complex so this is probably NOT correct as a cultivar name - it is certainly mis-leading in any case!
