I bought this one at a local flower shop about three years ago. I was looking to put in a red hybrid tea and the rose expert at the flow...Read Moreer shop said this one was very much like Ingrid Bergman. I already had two Ingrids so I decided to take a chance on this one.
The rose is a rich red, about the same shade as Ingrid Bergman. There are occasionally some white veins on the reverse of the petals. If there is fragrance, I haven't noticed it. The bush is quite floriferous, and it is not uncommon to have several blooms open at once.
There was a real problem with the growth habit of my In the Mood: for the first two summers the flower stems were in general too short for cutting ,and often they were weak and floppy. For this reason I planned to cull the rose, but it is more hardy than many hybrid teas and so after unburying it in the spring, I twice decided to keep it and give it another chance. I was rewarded last summer with much longer and stronger flower stems, making this rose worthwhile for the first time.
I rate the rose as neutral because the growth habit was poor the first two years but much better the third year.
