The San Francisco Chronicle actually had a picture of it last week when touting a new book that has come out on the Conservatory. It called it Vriesea Samurai.
After many emails to bromeliad lovers I gleaned it was hybridized by Kents Bromeliad Nursery in Vista California. And they named it Vriesea Splendide Vista as V. Splendide was the parent and the nursery is in Vista Ca. However later on a man in LA started calling it Vriesea Samurai.
As you can see it is incredible. And I need it so much.
