This is a potentially beautiful cactus, but has so many synonyms, that should be a hint that it is also a variable species. I have seen ...Read Moreso many photos of this species that look totallly unalike, that I am still confused what this plant REALLY is. Most plants found in cultivation are labeled Pilosocereus palmeri. Some are a pale blue, some are a deep turquoise blue-green, some are a dull, dark greyish blue-green... some are skinny while some are quite stout for a Pilosocereus. Some are branched while others are solitary columns. Some individuals are highly ornamental and striking plants, while others are weedly, sad, and very NON-ornamental plants. About the only thing they all have in common is largish tufts of 'hair' near the tops, a condition certainly not unique to this species. All one has to do is 'Google' this plant and see all the incredibly different looking plants identified as this species to be totallly confused.
This is a beautiful cactus! I love the blue hue
to it. I hope to find it one day soon! 7/26/18
