However, it easily survived temps in the high 30s here this winter and never even looked stressed, so it is at least a zone 10b (I live in zone 9b-10a... but we had a relatively mild winter). So I'll see if this plant can survive the next few winters outdoors... if so, I will be sure to tell them it can survive in zone 10a.
Plant just survived, in Jan 07, 5 hours of 27F frostless cold with no overhead protection in the ground- nearby palms and other tropicals died or were severely damaged... yet this plant 100% unaffected... I would probably upgrade this species to a zone 9b plant... quite a surprise, as so many other Aloes in the yard were completely melted by this freeze.
