Very drought tolerant plant, but when going through winter drought does tend to lose some leaves and looks a bit odd with just 3-5 fat, pale leaves sticking out at odd angles. Hard plant to get to look good in southern California where it might rain a bit too much for it or the humidity might be too hight. Always looks a bit sad here.
