Hummingbirds visit the flowers all summer long. I cut it down to the ground in early winter/late fall and toss the old vines and seeds over the fence into a horse pasture. New vines have volunteered in the tall fescue sod. Pretty darn tough, I'd say. My all time favorite plant.
