From midwinter to early summer it produces 4" dense spikes of white flowers. It is very tolerant of coastal conditions. 'Latisepala' has deep purple-blue flowers, the darkest in color of any hebe. Hebe macrocarpa var brevifolila has reddish purple flowers and shoreter leaves.
