One of my patches crashed hard after a strange winter with little snow cover and really cold temperatures but recovered from maybe root remains and seedlings. Flowering tend to be a bit on the shy side, as not all plants send up blooming stalks. They need to be handled by gloves as the foliage is rough. They self sow rapidly, and grows to mature size rapidly, so you have to keep a eye out for seedlings. Grows in sandy soil in woodland shade.
