I felt it had been most likely forced into blooming early but had never seen one in person & wanted it desperately so I took a chance and brought it home. So happy I did. It has had to spend its nights inside but has blessed me with such beauty. It definitely is a thirsty plant but worth every drop of water and effort. It sits outside on the east getting lots of morning & early afternoon sun and then has bright shade for remainder of the day. We are a cool zone 6 & last frost date here is June 15th. Klamath Falls, OR. Keeping indoors at night til July most likely.
I grew the "Calypso" variety in a container. It did very well in its location on the shaded, north side of my townhouse. It is attractive...Read More, easy to care for, blooms profusely and self-deadheads. Its flowering cycle will end in late summer or early autumn, so don't expect any flowers past the end of August.
Much to my surprise, the next year I found little monkey flowers in the soil next to where the container had been. Obviously the plants had gone to seed and they sprouted the following year. I like them, so they will stay!
