They self-sow easily (think Johnny Jump Up), but not to the point where they force out other plants or grass. The flowers on the ones in our flower bed are plain white, but the ones that randomly appear in our grass and in our egress window well are light purple with delicate black lines inside (like the ones shown here). They seem to prefer cool (mostly 60-70 degree temps) and a good amount of rain; dryness and higher temps keep it well under control.

They also make an excellent jelly, jam, syrup, liquor, and bath water.
