It shoots up in April and starts blooming by early to mid May, continuing until frost here. I've got mine planted in full sun in very well drained sandy soil with some other Salvia species and it's performing well. A very nice long blooming, drought tolerant Salvia with interesting somewhat bi-colored looking flowers being blue with the base of the floral tube looking whitish.
