The flower sepals as shown here, which are very elongated(!),but still triangulated in shape, look very characteristic of Ipomoea nil,but in actual fact,this plant is a true interspecific hybrid of Ipomoea nil and Ipomoea purpurea.

Very beautiful deep purple color with white spokes, the blooms are about 4" across, some a bit larger. The translation I got for this name is as follows:
Maisugata...a dancing posture
Mai means dancing, sugata means a posture, pose, figure, form. So, one's dancing posture.
I planted seeds I got from Japan and had 100% germination on them - fast growers and fast bloomers. Seeds DO NOT need to be soaked before planting.
These are one of my favorite Japanese Morning glories - not as tender as some of the others and excellent color!
