First tomato to produce in my garden. Medium fruits in clusters, attractive striped color. Flavor somewhat tart. Seed chambers were large...Read More with low ratio of meat to seed pulp.
I grew this from seed in 2005 in zone 5a, Iowa. I got the seed from Seed Savers organization. Their website describes this tomato as: ...Read More"NEW! Gorgeous 2½" fruits are fire-engine red overlaid with golden yellow stripes. Top quality, extremely uniform strain, very productive. Great sweet flavor. Sure to be a best seller at farmers’markets. Indeterminate, 75-80 days from transplant."
I have not tasted it yet but will report on it when I do. So far it grows very well and has a lot of fruit on it.
UPDATE: Plants were great producers and I got a lot of fruit from them. The color is just fab for salads and other "fresh" presentations. Taste probably not in my top 10, but very acceptable. Zesty with a hint of sweetness. Not sweet like sungold. Not quite as zesty as green zebra. But good all-around flavor and popular with my coworkers due to its appearance. Also, good disease resistance for me, along with no cracking, so I'm growing it again in 2006. The one that I show in pictures is not as distinctly red and yellow striped as some of the others that came later in the season. No BER on these 'maters!
