Require...Read Mores consistent moisture---the soil should never be allowed to dry out. Grows in wet meadows and moist woods in the wild, and does best in wet soils in cultivation. So it tolerates poor drainage.
It blooms in early to mid-summer---in Boston, it blooms in July.
Flower size ranges fro 2.5 to 4". Height is usually 4-6', sometimes reaching 8'.
Like most other lilies, it is susceptible to lily leaf beetle here, and its cultivation here requires constant vigilance.
I tried this once in ordinary garden soil and failed with it.
