They are supposed to form a tuber, but I have not been able to detect one and will dig further to take a photo.
The flowers are worth the wait, they are gorgeous.
Out of 10 seeds I sowed, only 5 germinated and only two vines made it to this stage.

I've since moved from Southern CAL 10/2006 to NM and I brought the tubers with me.. low and behold, it survived the freezes here outside in a pot top dressed with bark. One large tuber made it and one small one. I've changed my rating to positive because it looks like once it is established, you can have some great flowers and anything that I can leave outside for the winter is a winner with me.
