This is a relatively old Japanese maple of the Matsumurae group. It looks much like a more deeply divided, serrated version of 'Atropurp...Read Moreureum'. The spring leaves are purple-red, but summer foliage is greenish-bronze, while fall foliage is brilliant scarlet. New leaves combined with older ones makes for a pleasing two-tone effect. This selection is not as large as 'Atropurpureum', growing to 5 m high by 4 m wide.
