This species is called Tree Prickly Pear, but there are many other Prickly Pears (Opuntias) that grow like trees and have distinct trunks...Read More with age. It has 5 recognized varieties that has been scattered around and adapted to the various Island groups around the Galapagos Islands.
This or one of the varieties are on my wish list. (Especially the gigantea variety)
Note: Opuntia myriacantha & Opuntia galapageia var. myriacantha are synonyms of O. galapageia, instead of O. echios.
