Second, is this plant known for being an attractive meal for any particular animal? My small clump was completely destroyed, down to a few brown stems with ragged ends, within about 12 days of the date of the picture. It is, fortunately, coming out again.
As for blooming: this is the second season for this particular clump and I have seen no flowers; however, the variegation is stunning, so I am delighted with it. (The variegation just before it was eaten was much more pronounced than that in the posted picture.)

It grows up a trellis around my deck and looks great but would look much better with flowers. Any ideas why its not flowering?
